SNOWMAN at Consoil 2008

Picture by: Arnd Wieland 2008		The 10th ConSoil Conference, which took place from 03.-06. June 2008 in Milan, continued the successful programme of the previous ConSoil series. Besides the traditional ConSoil focus on contamination of soil and groundwater, ConSoil 2008 again dealt with the functioning of the soil-water systems. With this multi-focus, the conference followed the EU policy that aims at the sound and integrated management of the soil-water systems in Europe. As before, ConSoil has been a platform to exchange news and knowledge between the expert conference participants.

The SNOWMAN ERA-Net has been presented at Consoil in its different roles: An ERA-Net project funded by the EU Commission to support the development of the European Research Area, a successful initiative aiming to launch a second trans-national call for research in January 2009, and a funder of joint research in Europe.

While the first two roles have been played by SNOWMAN itself during its Consoil Special Session, the latter has been introduced by the funded researchers themselves.

Furthermore, SNOWMAN got the chance to inform a broader audience by presentations during the NICOLE and EURODEMO sessions.
